Athletics

Dear Mountainside Families and Athletes,

Welcome to a new school year!  We are excited to begin our Fall Season with Girls' and Boys' Soccer, and Girls' Volleyball.  We offer Girls' and Boys' Basketball and Boys' Wrestling during the Winter season, followed by Baseball and Softball in the Spring.

Interscholastic athletes play an important role in the total educational development of the student body. Students combine academic and athletic skills, while fostering life skills like teamwork, discipline, resilience and accountability. Sports help children develop physical skills, get exercise, make friends, have fun, learn to play fair, and improve self-esteem. With guidance, athletes practice healthy competition and good sportsmanship by maintaining a positive attitude while experiencing intense emotions associated with both winning and losing.

It is a privilege and an honor for a student to be part of an athletic team and to represent Deerfield School and the Mountainside community.  With this in mind, eligibility standards, self-discipline, hard work, and personal responsibility are expected and encouraged.

Along with our coaches, I look forward to an exciting season!

Let the games begin,

Ms. Castro
